The hudge old barn was filled with old harness riggings, saddles and bridles, and tools. This old harness set, is almost identical to the ones my Grandfather Theodore Christiansen used on his farm in Fountain Green, Utah. My heart aches to this day, that I did not bring it home w/me when I had the chance....how foolish I was, to leave it behind. I lost a chance to keep part of my grandfathers history....I wonder if LuJane Christiansen Cooks family kept them, when they cleared off his land? I must talk to them.... A magnicent old lumber wagon, used by the pioneers to haul logs to help build the Fort and buildings.
Kim by a wonderful old wagon, so well taken care of.
And here is the hudge, barn next to Cove Fort. This is a replica of the original barn. They still have some of the old original beams inside the new barn. It is built exactly as the old one was.
Instead of Iron Bolts to join the beams together, they used wooden pegs! The ingenuity of the pioneers is something to behold! They were brillient people!
Oh, what a magnicent building!! This scene shows the log corral outside the barn, where they would keep the horses for the stage coaches that came thru, and the Pony Express Riders!!
Another view of the back of Cove Fort, from the Black Smith shop. If you look closely, you can see the small slots at the top of the Fort Wall, where rifles were put thru, to help protect the fort.
