A very special memory for me, when I was little, is when it was canning time in Pleasant Grove. The Pleasant Grove Cannery was busy bottling Chili Sauce, that Pleasant Grove was famious for, in the little round bottle, that said "Made in Pleasant Grove, Utah." That wonderful aroma simply filled the air...The leaves were Yellow on the trees, the air had a bite of cold, and that wonderful aroma of Chili Sauce floating on the breeze. And "GG" would have every bottle filled with Beans, Peaches, Pears, Applesauce, Cherries, a few Crab Apples (spicey little things), Tomatoes and of course 'Dill Pickles'! "GG" had a big crock down in the fruit room, filled full of the Brin, turning the cucumbers into Pickles! When the outside of the crock began to have a salty residue appear, they were pretty much ready. Oh, the Crunch of those big Dill Pickles! Store bought cannot even compare.
I have two Peach Trees. The one has Hale Peaches. They were so big this year, the size of baseballs!! The other is Lemon Alberta, a bit smaller, but so yummy! Well, family, just thought I'd share a few memories of Canning Season. And when you come up, I'll share a few of my peaches with you! Love
Mom

I remember grandmas fruit room down in the basement. It always seemed pretty full.
I did canning when the kids were little, but not so much anymore.
The peaches really are good right now. I bought some at the Farmers market on Saturday and my neighbor brought me some from her tree today! Yummy!
There is nothing as yummy as home canned peaches! "Thanks you" to you grandma for instilling this love for canning in me. I have learned so much from you!!! It is such a good feeling to go into the storage room and see all those bottles lined up waiting for winter! Love you! Kim
Thank you for the peaches! At least someone cans them for us for now until we can do it ourselves. :)
